LED Neon Wedding Sign
2023
Tying The Knot
In 2023, I was commissioned to create a custom neon sign for a wedding. The sign was designed to be a unique, modern addition to the couple's decor and was to be placed in front of the sweetheart’s table. This project was an exploration of physical and digital media, resulting in a lasting keepsake for the newlyweds.
The Groundwork
Designing in Illustrator
The process began in Adobe Illustrator and Procreate, where I created a digital template of the couple's last name in a stylized, neon-inspired script. The .AI file served as the foundation for both the laser-cutting of the acrylic sheet and the guide for shaping the flexible silicone LED strips. The design was intended to ensure readability and achieve a perfect fit for the lights.
Piecing it Out
Once the LED strips were fastened, I built a custom wooden stand, allowing the sign to either stand freely on any surface or be mounted on a wall. I also concealed the wiring and ensured the soldering connections were solid and safe, with all wire leads carefully attached to the power source.

Finishing Touches
Laser Cutting & Fabrication
I used an industrial CNC laser engraver to cut a clear acrylic sheet according to the design. Then, I cut and soldered the flexible silicone LED strips to match the template and used a soldering iron to connect the segments after cutting them to with the lengths indicated in the Illustrator file. I then drilled holes in the acrylic for the wiring and secured the LED strips to the base.
Final Remarks
The final result was a neon sign that became a highlight of the wedding decor. It served as a glowing symbol for the couple's sweetheart table and will be their keepsake forever. The combination of the light strips with custom design became a functional and aesthetic success.
